Dennis Murphree

Dennis serves on the Board of Directors for Dent-Well. A seasoned industry leader, Dennis has been an entrepreneur and investor his entire career. Dennis has founded six companies of his own, including a commercial real estate development firm in 1972 that grew to be the 11th-largest developer in the United States by 1986. Dennis created Murphree Venture Partners in 1987 and has guided the firm’s continued growth as its managing general partner. He has also taught entrepreneurship for 27 years and is on the faculty of the Jones Graduate School at Rice University where he teaches two second-year MBA courses: “Creative Entrepreneurship” and “Venture Capital”. He is the founder of the Rice Business Plan Competition, now the largest MBA event of its type in the world. Dennis’ undergraduate degree is a BA in Economics from S.M.U. and an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
